A meeting, in the Railway Hotel, Larbert, between the Falkirk, East Stirlingshire, Tayavalla, Dunipace, King's Park, Campsie and the original Stenhousemuir.

They were later joined by a further seven clubs, Comely Park, Grasshoppers, Ochil Rangers, Milngavie, Strathblane, Grahamston and Vale of Bannock and the Stirlingshire Cup was organised to start in January 1884.

The competition was one of the oldest competed for trophies in the world although it had been in abeyance since 2016. Excepting wartime seasons, the only occasion it was not played until its recent suspension was in 2008-09. The was Cup started again in 2024 and was won by Falkirk FC defeating Stirling Albion in the final.

2025 sees the format change slightly due to the busy schedule, details below.
